1. Welcome to October’s newsletter. This year’s AGM took place at St Wilfrid’s church hall 2ndSeptember. There were no resolutions submitted to debate. The minutes of the 2024/2025 meeting were agreed and signed off by the Chairman. The Treasurer submitted the accounts for the previous financial year and they were agreed by members and duly voted unanimously by those present. The Treasure recorded a vote of thanks to his predecessor, Hayden Davies, for his dedication to keeping very accurate financial records and providing a thorough and comprehensive handover despite his medical condition. It was agreed that the annual membership fee of £45:00 would remain for the coming year with a review prior to 2026/2027 AGM. It was also agreed, the committee officials for 2025/2026:-

Vice Chairmen…. Paul Turner, John Bowden

Treasurer.. Mark Taylor

Secretary.. David Allport MBE

Social Secretary/Almoner.. Peter Sanders

2. 2025 I believe will go down as the year WMS took a giant leap for mankind. Never mind stepping on the moon for the first time in 1969, WMS was able to take a giant leap in to at least the next ten years in 2025. The latest step forward was the acquisition of the materials to secure the area in the front of our premises that is covered by our lease. Again, thanks to the team effort by members we were able to save considerable funds by erecting the fencing ourselves. We have also gained an additional working/storage area with a container extension to the main building. Work continues in readying it for use. Windows are planned to be added and lagging attached to ensure minimum heat loss. The following photos show what a major project this was and what will be a major asset it will be to our members once complete. Work continues with the conversion of the interior of the container. Help is still required for the fence painting and general assistance with the tasks still ahead of us. So please if you can come along even for a couple of hours it will help. We need to complete much of the exterior work before the weather precludes working outside.
